Our Mission

We created Aurora Del Sud from a desire to live in harmony with the land and share this lifestyle and experience with others.

Sofie came from Norway, leaving behind a fast-paced modern life in search of deeper connection — with nature, with people, and with herself. Roberto grew up here in Sicily, deeply connected to the animals, the mountains, and the rhythms of the farm.

Together, we chose to build a life rooted in something ancient and meaningful. Sicily has a way of reminding you of something you may have forgotten. A lifestyle connected with the land, old traditions and truth.

Ride through trails with no phone signal, harvest your own food and herbs from the mountains, drink water from a river, sleep surrounded by birds and trees. Here, life moves slower, and nature leads the way.

We believe that when we return to the land, we return to ourselves. These experiences are deeply human — yet they have become so rare in this modern world. Therefore, our mission is to disconnect in order to reconnect.

Aurora del Sud — Northern Lights of the South — tells the story of us. Sofie comes from the far north of Norway, the land of the Aurora, while Roberto is Sicilian, deeply rooted in the landscape and traditions of the south.

While it is practically impossible to see the northern lights here in Sicily, we want it to symbolize that everything is possible, a place where wonders accrues. It represents journey, adventure, and a little bit of magic — just like the experience we want to share through our horse rides and farm stay in the Sicilian countryside✨

Roberto

Roberto grew up here at our farmhouse, surrounded by nature and horses. His passion for horses—especially the Sicilian horse—was passed down from his father, Francesco, the developer of this unique and noble breed, which represents his life’s work.

Having spent his life riding through the Sicilian mountains, Roberto has developed a deep connection to the land and a preference for a natural riding style. Lover of nature, animals, culture, and local legends, Roberto takes great pleasure in sharing the beauty of his homeland through stories, traditions, and authentic experiences. With his deep knowledge of Sicily and his warm hospitality, he offers guests a truly special and unforgettable taste of the island.

P.S. Roberto is also a dentist! Should you indulge in too many Sicilian sweets, you’ll be in the best of hands at his studio.

From a young age, she used to borrow her friends’ horses and go out hacking in the Lofoten mountains—there, a passion for trail riding was sparked. At 22 years old, she moved to Sicily to work with horses as a trail guide. She fell completely in love with Sicily, as well as with the Sicilian: Roberto…

Apart from being an adventurous trail rider, Sofie is deeply passionate about Sicilian food, culture, and farming. At our villa, she enjoys preparing traditional recipes using fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits from our garden.

With her light and wild-spirited personality, Sofie will guide you and ensure you experience the true essence of Sicily in a unique and magical way.
